As we begin a new month, I’m thinking about how much is going on in the world right now. I’m thinking about moving at one’s own pace. I’m thinking about the choice to do anything at all.
And as the film industry continues to be a place of unknowns, I find myself looking for a space to share inspiration and connection. I have loved dressing actors as a Costume Designer for the past 15+ years. There is something so fulfilling about finishing a 3 hour long fitting with an actor who becomes a character within that time in the room. We share stories about style, how we dress, how the character differs from themselves and how we imagine the characters thinks about fashion and how they show up in the world every day. We talk about bodies and shape, color and trends, and who, what and where we find inspiration, impacting how we dress.
Now, the industry on strike, I find myself wishing to share more, read more, and connect more. So much of my time has been sourcing clothing, accessories, jewelry and researching trends throughout history and today.
Soon I will be sending some thoughts on the impact of color red (and shoppable links), winter comfort style because we all need some calm, and the timeless-ness of certain pieces and trends that are quite popular now. I also would love to know what you all would love to read here. I aim to share words on travel - lists of favorite places, art - exhibits I loved or hope to see, costume design from some favorite films, and more.
I hope this can be a place where I can bring some lightness to a very heavy world right now.
Thanks for reading and spending time with me here. Speak soon.
